Blogging has become one of the most popular career choices for a lot of people who are dissatisfied with working a standard nine to five job. It's the kind of thing that allows you to work for yourself, setting your own hours and having total control over the kind of work that you do. It's the kind of thing that a lot of people would consider to be a dream career. Of course, that doesn't mean that it doesn't come with its own share of challenges that you need to be aware of. If you're not careful, a career as a blogger can turn from a dream into a nightmare very quickly. If you want to make a career as a part of the blogosphere, there are certain resources that will make your life a lot easier and will much better prepare you for the challenges that blogging may present.

Proofreading software

Your content should be the most important part of your blog since, surprise surprise, it's the reason that most people are actually there. Because of this, you need to make sure that your content is not only well written but free of things like spelling and grammatical errors. If your writing is full of spelling mistakes, then it's not going to matter how good it is, people are going to switch off and be a lot less interested in what people have to say. Proofreading software like Grammarly can be a real lifesaver to bloggers who are fantastic when it comes to writing content but aren't as skilled regarding checking for mistakes.

Stock images

Content might be the most important part of your blog, but it's far from the only important part. Your posts need to be visually engaging otherwise there's a pretty good chance that your readers are going to get bored. People might be happy to sit down with a long book, but on the internet, there's no quicker way to lose someone's attention than to present them with a huge wall of text with no breaks. Images can split up your text and even add new meaning to what you're writing. Sites like EyeEm are fantastic resources for stock images that you can use as a part of your blog posts. Many of the images are incredibly high-quality and cover enough genres and topics that, no matter what your blog is about, you're sure to find something. Of course, if you've got a decent artistic eye, you could always go out and take the pictures yourself.

Social media

You can expect to put content onto your blog and then just sit back and watch the clicks rolling in. You've got to be able to share it around and get some buzz going. Of course, unless you happen to be part of a large business, you probably don't have access to a significant marketing budget. Because of that, you need to focus on things like social media as a way to spread the word about your blog. Not only that but your readers should be able to share your blog posts on their own social media pages. That way you get to take advantage of some fantastic word-of-mouth marketing.
