A Guide To Making People Fall In Love With Your Business

By Features Desk

Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

Making people fall in love with your business means not only offering a brilliant product/service, but an amazing brand experience. People need to fall in love with your brand and the way they feel when purchasing from you. Below, we’ll discuss what it takes to make people fall in love with your business so much that they’ll keep coming back for more.

Make Customers Want To Tell Other People About You

Word of mouth is extremely valuable, so you need to make your customers want to tell other people about you. People are more likely to tell people they know about a bad experience than a positive one, which is why you need to go above and beyond for them. 58% of customers are likely to tell people after having a negative experience, so bear this in mind. It’s also worth noting that according to the Wharton School of Business, a customer you acquire from word of mouth has a 16-25% higher lifetime value than those you acquire from other sources. This means that they will stay with you longer! Loyalty programs are a great way to build customer loyalty and make your customers want to spread the word.

Manage Customer Expectations

A negative experience can usually be boiled down to unmet expectations. If a customer is unhappy with you, it usually means that the customer was expecting something, but you failed to deliver it. All you have to do is simply manage this right from the beginning. Find out what customers expect and ask open ended questions. What kind of results do they expect from your product/service? What’s their ideal timeframe? How does what you do fit into their overall plans/goals?

A survey could give you a better idea if speaking face to face is unrealistic. You can also try the following suggestions:

  • Focus Groups

  • Observation

  • Point of Sale

  • Customer Service

  • Social Media

  • Communities and Groups

  • Email and Web Forms

Be Honest

In order to get people to fall in love with your business, you need to be thorough and honest. Being transparent is key. If you make a promise, you have to keep it. If you drop the ball, be honest about what you did and don’t try to twist the truth or palm the blame off. People can tell when you do this, and they don’t like it. Make honesty and transparency one of the core vlaues of your business.

Treat Customers Like They Are The Most Important People

...Because they are! Bad customer experiences can cost businesses more than $41 million per year. Always respond quickly to complaints and questions, and be polite and professional no matter what.

Know Your Values And Why People Should Work With You

Knowing your values and why people should work with you right from the beginning is essential. Whether you’re trying to sell your business to an investor or customer doesn’t matter; you need to know why you’re so great. For example, you could choose to do this via a presentation. The good news is designing a presentation has never been easier with some of the awesome platforms out there. Try them and see who you can convince.

Build Trust With Your Customers

It takes around 12 positive service experiences to make up for 1 negative experience. This means if you drop the ball, you will have some making up to do before you are able to get that customer to trust you again. Always keep your customers in the know when you make changes to products/services in a way that could affect them. It doesn’t matter how big/small you are.

Always Say “Thank You”

Kindness and gratitude towards your customers can make a huge difference. Always say thank you. Customers will always spend more with your company as a result of positive experiences. Sending a handwritten thank you note or even a thank you email can endear you to them and make them want to come back. It also helps if you plan on tailoring your thank yous based on who you are talking to. Simply calling a customer by their name will make the interaction feel more special and personalised. Be as appreciative as possible to your customers for taking the time to work with you, go through the process of resolving their issue, or whatever it is they are doing with you.

Making people fall in love with your business can take time, but it will happen if you are consistent in using the techniques above!
