On Republican sexual perversiveness and bigotry
By Rev. Rahelio Soleil
Conservatives love to project moral bankruptcy on liberals and those on the left. They point to Hollywood's libertine attitude as characteristic of us freaky, hippy, nutty lefties.
In contrast, they are the Wally & Beaver crew, the traditional values people, the nuclear family's last supporters, the bomb shelter basement crowd that drinks whole milk and eats cookies made fresh by stay-at-home moms.
You get the formula, right? Democrats = sex freaks. Republicans = moral people.
So, while adulterer Newt Gingrich continues to use words like "sick" and "perverted" to identify lefties, and Ann Coulter, the unmarried, 40-something and sexually active author of "Godless" lashes out at Liberals for being everything but cousins of Satan, maybe we should review the list of Republican moral allstars again.
REPUBLICAN MORAL ALL-STARS
There can be no story more profound that Dr. W. David Hager, a member of the conservative group Focus on the Family, and President Bush's appointee to Advisory Committee for Reproductive Health Drugs in the Food and Drug Administration. He would have been a good choice, if it weren't for the fact that he was an anal rapist:
"Davis alleges that between 1995 and their divorce in 2002, Hager repeatedly sodomized her without her consent. Several sources on and off the record confirmed that she had told them it was the sexual and emotional abuse within their marriage that eventually forced her out. "I probably wouldn't have objected so much, or felt it was so abusive if he had just wanted normal [vaginal] sex all the time," she explained to me. "But it was the painful, invasive, totally nonconsensual nature of the [anal] sex that was so horrible." -The Nation
I thought Republicans were against sodomy? They hated Lawrence vs. Texas, but I guess they don't mind a little barebacking if it's between a conservative and his wife.
Mark Grethen, formerly nominated as Republican of the Year by Rep. Tom Daivs (R-VA):
"In 2001, [Mark Grethen] was convicted of six felonies, two of which involved sexual assault of two of his minor children. He received a total sentence of twenty-six years."

Senior Republican Congressman Mark Foley accused by American media of sending indecent e-mails to young boys. He has been a constant campaigner against paedophiles
Grethen's Minnesota connection:
"Grethen had testicular cancer in 1981 and was declared sterile by doctors after an accident while working for the U.S. Postal Service in Red Wing, Minn., in November 1980. He was unloading about 600 pounds of mail when the cart came crashing down on him, pinning his groin between the cart and the mail truck." -The Virginian-Pilot
John Schmitz, revered conservative and father of child rapist Mary Kay LeTourneau:
"Schmitz' sometimes tragic personal and family life also made headlines. His political career came to sudden end in 1982 after it was revealed that he had a pregnant mistress and 15-month old son by the woman, who had been his student in a political science class he taught at Santa Ana College. In 1997 one of his daughters, Mary Kay LeToureau, a married teacher in Washington state at the time, was convicted of carrying on a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old pupil, by whom she eventually had two children. -Institute of Historical Review
Republican anti-abortion activist who infiltrated the Terry Schiavo case, Howard Scott Heldreth, also a convicted child rapist in Florida.
"Howard Scott Heldreth, 32, said his views changed when he was 19 as he spent months in an Ohio jail while awaiting trial on rape and kidnapping charges." -Tampa Bay Online
Republican judge Mark Pazuhanich pleaded no contest to fondling a 10-year old girl and was sentenced to 10 years probation:
"A judge charged with groping a 10-year-old girl at a Hilary Duff concert has pleaded no contest to indecent assault. The judge, Mark Pazuhanich, 47, said in court Monday that he would resign as a Monroe County judge. Mr. Pazuhanich was sentenced to 10 years probation after pleading no contest to two counts of indecent assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of corruption of minors, all misdemeanors. He also must register as a sex offender and cooperate with an evaluation to determine if he is a sexually violent predator." -New York Times
Republican anti-abortion activist Nicholas Morency pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on his computer and offering a bounty to anybody who murders an abortion doctor:
"When FBI agents examined the computer, they found something they hadn't expected: child pornography. In October 2000, they returned to search Morency's home, where they found two computer disks that, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer, contained "numerous sexually explicit images of children [that] depict sexual violence against children." According to the story, Assistant U.S. Attorney Diana Carrig estimated that Morency had 1,000 to 2,000 images, some showing children as young as five to seven years old." -Planned Parenthood
Republican Mayor Philip Giordano is serving a 37-year sentence in federal prison for sexually abusing 8- and 10-year old girls:
"Giordano, 38, was the Republican challenger against U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman last year, who ran for re-election to the Senate while he was also vice presidential contender on the Democratic ticket...Special agent Lisa Bull said the mayor was arrested on two offenses: the use of an interstate facility to entice a child under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity, and conspiracy to carry out that offense." -CNN
Republican Congressman Donald "Buz" Lukens was found guilty of having sex with a female minor and sentenced to one month in jail
"[Anna] Coffman's daughter told the station that Lukens had twice paid her for sex: in 1985, when she was 13, and again last year. In his videotaped chat with the mother, Lukens seemed to suggest that he might arrange a Government job for her." -Time Magazine
Republican fundraiser Richard A. Delgaudio was found guilty of child porn charges and paying two teenage girls to pose for sexual photos:

Delgaudio, of Burke, Va., who is a nationally-known Republican party fund-raiser, faced a Baltimore judge Wednesday afternoon on child porn charges...Delgaudio -- who pleaded guilty in February -- faced charges for producing child pornography after paying two teenage girls to pose for sexual photos in a Baltimore hotel." -WBAL News
