Your wedding day is supposed to be the best day of your life, an occasion during which you and your new spouse celebrate your love surrounded by family and friends. However, disaster could soon strike if you forget certain things. Whilst the following list might not have disastrous consequences, their inclusion in your celebrations can contribute to an unforgettable celebration that you will be recounting to your children and grandchildren. Here are four things that you should not forget when planning your wedding.
1. Flowers
Flowers often play a huge part in wedding ceremonies, being a big part of the design scheme. They can be used to decorate the wedding venue, in addition to forming the bride’s bouquet and matching buttonholes for male members of the wedding party. Make sure you choose wedding flowers that coordinate with your overall design scheme – white and pale pink roses are usually fail-safe options. You might even like to look into the language of flowers to imbue your bouquets with even more special meaning.
2. Bartending
You have no doubt already booked a venue for your wedding and decided whether guests will be served a sit-down meal or a buffet, but what about drinks? By hiring a wedding bartender, you can be safe in the knowledge that your guests will be served a celebratory glass of bubbly on their arrival – an essential for toasting the bride and groom. Bartenders will also be on hand all night to supply guests with their favourite tipple, whether that is a glass of wine, a bottle of chilled beer, or a fancy cocktail.
3. Entertainment
There is usually a gap between the wedding ceremony on the reception, an opportunity for photographs to be taken, drinks to be served, and small talk to be enjoyed. Make sure you have some music playing in the background to create a relaxing, inviting atmosphere. You could consider hiring a string quartet, or simply find a playlist of background music for weddings. Don’t forget to organise entertainment for after the speeches. You might decide to book a live band or a DJ for a post-wedding disco.
4. Transportation
How is the bridal party getting to and from the wedding venue? Unless you want to roll up in the family hatchback, it’s worthwhile considering how you will make your grand entrance. Many people choose the elegance of a classic car or a glamourous stretched limo. Alternatively, if you and your partner prefer something a bit more quirky or unique, look for unusual wedding transportation. Choose a horse and carriage for a romantic fairy tale look, or a vintage Vespa for a sense of continental elopement. Don’t forget to attach your ‘Just married’ streamers at the back of your transportation for the return journey!
