From Zero Web To Web Hero – Getting Your Site Up

You might think that just about every business is going to have their own website, what with the fact that the majority of customers look online before joining a service or making a purchase. However, there are still several that are a bit apprehensive about making the jump. Here, we’re going to outline the four big factors in getting a site ready to launch and do your business some good.

Outline what you want

It’s not enough to simply think that your site is going to be a place where people can see the details of your business. You have to think about how you’re going to inform visitors and how you’re going to keep their interest. Are you going to use video marketing throughout? Will you keep it fresh with new content? Think about what visitors want to see from your site first and foremost and outline a plan for the website from there. You might be tempted, for instance, to dedicated four seperate pages to the details of the business, but is that going to have any value for your customer?

Get it up

Then you have to turn those plans into a reality. Having an idea of what kind of content you want to host and what different pages you want is a great start, helping you to choose things like whether your need WordPress hosting or shared hosting. Choosing the domain name for your site is important, too. If you can, you want a .com domain. If you’re local, consider adding a location like a city or state to the domain name, too.

Get it out

If the website is launched but no-one is there to see it, it’s not going to make much of a difference. Getting people to click is just as important as making a good site. There are two methods to marketing you need to consider, as with any new service or product. Organic marketing includes making sure your site ranks highly on search engines through SEO and the like. Interruptive marketing means putting a bit of spending power behind PPC adverts and getting active about sharing your content on social media.

Keep it going

A site isn’t done when it’s done, not if you want it to be of any real benefit for your business. Keeping it updated is going to assure any new or returning visitors that the business is still alive, kicking, and evolving with the market. Adding new content or changing existing content is one of the easiest ways to keep it updated. But you should also think about updating it to the users’ needs, as well. For instance, you can make the jump to a mobile responsive site. Keeping the site relevant is also important in terms of keeping it relevant to search engines, too.

A site, when well-made and properly maintained, doesn’t just inform customers. It spreads the power of your brand, it builds loyalty and it can even give you the data that helps you better understand your customers. It’s a valuable tool and if you aren’t using it yet, you have to get moving.
