IT’S TRUE: ANATOMY IS DESTINY!

Sometimes, no matter what we do to lose weight, the weight somehow remains in the places we want it the least. But if you have unrealistic expectations about how you should look, they can backfire and you will be unhappy and frustrated.

Instead, change your mindset about how you think you should look and focus instead on good health and building a healthy lifestyle that you can maintain for life.

Change Your Outlook!

If everybody in your family is overweight, does it mean that you are doomed to be overweight? Not necessarily. We’ve all seen families where some members are thin and some are overweight. Some lucky people appear to be able to eat all they want and not gain weight, while others appear to eat little yet are not able to lose weight.

Often, those who appear to eat more are actually eating a “normal” amount of food (when you don’t see them, they’re not eating). Conversely, sometimes those overweight people who you observe not eating much are actually eating more (when you don’t see them, they are eating)! But there are those unlucky people who have the “caveman metabolism” that’s designed to conserve calories. In times of famine, those people who had the most fat stores were at an advantage. Only the fat survived!

But it’s the 21st century and it’s time to make your stand. Although there may be a genetic component to your metabolic rate, you can take charge and build your body into a lean, mean, calorie-burning machine! You can transform your anatomy to a certain extent and overcome your genetics.

Follow These Tips & Transform Your Destiny:

1. You are what you eat.

What you eat is very important. The best strategy is to eat low on the food chain, which means a low-fat, high-fibre diet. High-fibre foods fill you up, not out. They also take longer to digest and absorb. They even keep your blood sugar more stable, helping you avoid cravings. Include healthy portions of lean protein, complex carbohydrate and unsaturated fat.

2. Rev-up your engine!

Take up light weight training. Building lean muscle mass makes your body more metabolically active, as muscle is a highly metabolically active tissue. This means that you’ll burn calories more efficiently, helping you lose weight faster or stay at your desired weight more easily.

3. Do aerobic activity on a regular basis.

Aerobic activity burns calories and keeps your heart healthy and strong. Consistency is important so try to get some kind of activity every day, whether it’s a workout at the gym or going for a walk after dinner. Don’t over-exercise. Take a day off after strenuous exercise – your body needs time to rest and recover. But an active life is a healthy life!
